THE ROMANCE

  • Your initial meet. How did it happen?

It was a Friday evening at classes (Shakthi Institute), we had something going on at the first sight. Gayan found the number from a friend and gave a call after classes. We started talking and became friends.

  • Who made the first move? How?

Gayan did, he wanted to watch a movie on a day that we both had classes since we were unable to meet on other days, and he had to be at the counter for about one and half hours for me to come. That was the day he said that he liked me.

  • What was your first impression about your spouse?

I really like him. He is extremely intelligent and so ridiculously handsome. I didn’t know if he is right for me though. After our second date, I liked him even more and by our third date, I was head over heels. He was everything I ever wanted in a guy and even more. He’s my best friend and he would do absolutely anything for me or to make me happy. I love him so much.

  • In what ways are you most alike?

We love Unawatuna, Love to shop and live in reality.

  • What's your most memorable date? Why?

Our first date at TGI Fridays – We love music and the food @ TGIF, it was a random dinner out when he ordered me a jack Daniel beef burger that I could not finish at all, ultimately it turned out to be a lovely romantic night out with some lovely music and some lights around with lots of love in the air.

  • Three things you love and hate about your partner.

Love- simple, caring and lovely/ hate- I love everything about him

THE PROPOSAL

  • How did the proposal happen?

We dated for 7 years before getting engaged and we used talked about marriage years before. I knew it was coming because 1) our discussions of timelines made it pretty clear and 2) we went ring shopping together.

  • If the proposal was a surprise, on a scale of 10 how well did it go?

Was not able to surprise me because we were already aware of it since we both dated for so long and we knew when things were changing.

  • What are you most looking forward to as Mr. and Mrs.?

To live happily ever after!

THE WEDDING

  • Most memorable moment from your wedding?

Holding the hand of my husband for the first time as the wife was really exciting and I started to feel that I am in good hands for the rest of my life.

  • If you could describe your wedding day using one word, what would it be?

Awesome

  • What's been the most fun detail of your wedding to plan?

It was all about the dance when all the bridesmaids and the groomsmen got together in the goodwill of practicing and ended up in outings and chitchats.

  • What's been the most difficult detail Of Your Wedding To Agree Upon?

Whether it’s the dress or the sari.

LIFE AFTER

  • Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We went visiting Singapore & Malaysia

  • What is your idea of, “And they lived happily ever after”

“The important things in life aren’t things.”

I thought I understood it. The important things in life are love, friendships and dreams. These aren’t things, obviously. Things like money or big houses or fancy cars aren’t important in life, at least not as important as the non-thing things. The practical side of me gives money, house and car adequate credit too. Without these unimportant things, love, friendships and dreams will be a little cranky.

Practicality aside, the meaning of this quote didn’t really sink in until sometime recently. Whatever said and done unimportant things should not be the first preference in your life after. It should always be family, love, friendships and dreams.

  • What has surprised you the most during the first few months of being married?

I married the right person.
The number one thing I learned in my first few months of marriage is that my husband and I were meant to be. I don’t know if he was the only one out there for me, but he was certainly the only one I’ve ever met who is such a seemingly perfect fit.

  • Who’s good at forgetting and better at forgiving?

I am the best at both (Wife)
