THE ROMANCE

  • Your initial meet. How did it happen?

We were just friends for a few years and occasionally had a chat on Facebook. I used to post photos of food that I would cook and that triggered a chat and we ended up talking more often.

Then during my final year of bachelors, I needed help with my final research and a software which Nelushan enthusiastically offered to help. So we first met at the University for a discussion and chats became more frequent.

  • Who made the first move? How?

Nelushan made the first move.

Few months after my final year exams we were just having a casual chat on Facebook and he came up with a game where we had to tell 5 things we like about each other and the chat went on for 24hrs (even without sleeping!).

The next day he said that he has something special to tell me, that he likes me a lot more than just a friend and asked out on a date. Well, I took two days to reply and finally said yes.

  • What was your first impression about your spouse?

He is sharp & bright. Absolutely smart.

  • In what ways are you most alike?

Caring for each other

  • What's your most memorable date? Why?

We’ve been dating for 3 years and have had countless dates. What we always prefer was short trips to beaches in the evening. I get to hold his hand and talk as much as I want while walking. I will always cherish those memories.

  • Three things you love and hate about your partner.

Love: His big expressive eyes, His sweet smile & His driving (I can watch all day long)

Hate:  His singing!!! (Drives me crazy)

THE PROPOSAL

  • How did the proposal happen?

Nelushan took me on a picnic date to Mrs. Macquarie’s lookout point overlooking Sydney Harbour Bridge & Opera house on a nice crisp summer evening.

We were watching the sunset over Opera house and he asked me for a walk to the top.

Then, he asked me to pose for a photo and while I was looking away and posing, he got down on one knee holding a beautiful rose gold & diamond ring and then when I look back, he said “will you marry me?”

I was out of this world.  I Didn’t know what to say and screamed “YES”.

Couldn’t stop screaming for another 5 minutes

That ring is the most delicate ring I’ve ever seen. He took one month to plan this and I had no clue.

  • If the proposal was a surprise, on a scale of 10 how well did it go?

A solid 10! (10 being the best)

  • What are you most looking forward to as Mr. and Mrs.?

Invest in our own sweet home.

THE WEDDING

  • Most memorable moment from your wedding?

Nelushan was making me laugh throughout the whole day telling me stories and jokes. There wasn’t a moment I wasn’t smiling.

  • If you could describe your wedding day using one word, what would it be?

Intimate

  • What's been the most fun detail of your wedding to plan?

Song selection. Nelushan and I had different ideas for music but we settled to a list after 3 weeks. However, my dad asked the band to play what he likes so all the fun turned to be a surprise.

A good surprise which we all enjoyed.

  • What's been the most difficult detail of your wedding to agree upon?

The guest list.

LIFE AFTER

  • Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We didn’t go as yet. We had to come back to Australia immediately after the wedding so we are planning to go to Hayman Island this summer.

  • What is your idea of, “And they lived happily ever after"?

For me it’s always HOME, Home is where Nelushan is.

Imagine after an exhausting day at work coming home. Well lit & warm, we are cooking dinner, having a chat about each other’s day with lots of hugs.

That’s what my happily ever after is. It’s always around him.

  • What Has Surprised You The Most During The First Few Weeks/Months Of Being Married?

His ability to cook delicious food.

  • Who’s Good At Forgetting And Better At Forgiving?

Good at forgetting: Nelushan

Good at forgiving:  Me
