Wedding Story of Tharaka & Hiran

October 14, 2020 11:28 am

Even though it is a little bit of cheesy, their love story makes us believe in the fact that true love still exists in the 20th century as well. It is not just a love story that we get to see in our modern society. It’s kind of life-changing, earth-shaking, always-and-forever kind of love—that we have watched in movies and read in books.

What makes it different from other love stories is that their journey was a bumpy ride. They have had loads of ups and downs till they finally say “I do”.Yet they proved the world that against all odds and obstacles ,true love conquers at the end of day .

THE ROMANCE

• Your initial meeting. How did it happen?

It dates back to 2008  where he was the most hated boy next door, who randomly came to my grandmother's rented house. Later on, our families got very close and we also became good friends not knowing where it would take us. Eventually, that friendship turned in to love as everybody had predicted.

Who made the first move? How?

It was Hiran who understood first that we were way beyond friends. As I was very particular and not prepared to get into a relationship, he initiated it and made me realize that we had been in love knowingly or unknowingly for so long, which I finally had to accept.

• What was your first impression of your Spouse?

In very cliché terms, Hiran is a man of few words, but with a lot of actions. As they say, actions speak louder than words. So, he would go the extra miles for his loved ones to give them the best. Plus, I really like the way he makes me feel special every single day. What is more enticing about him is, his honesty and absolutely committed nature. To be honest he knows how to make me fall in love with him.

In what way are you most alike?

We love traveling, and movies a lot and we would go for hours and hours in front of the TV. Both of us expect very little from others and we are very independent in that way. We are foodies and we love to experiment with new recipes and I must say that he is a cool husband and we share the kitchen together which is a plus point as I believe.

Three things that you love and hate about your partner?

I adore his insane commitment and the way he does everything wholeheartedly.

Sometimes, he is too arrogant to accept his mistakes in front of me. Also, his one-word responses to whichever the questions he is being asked irritate me the most and sometimes it leads to silly fights too.

THE PROPOSAL

How did the proposal happen?

It was on my 28th birthday that he proposed to me by throwing a party which was secretly arranged with his friends in a river- face inn, Bolgoda. With my favorite songs being played in the background, surrounded by candles, flowers, and shooting fireworks, he got down on his knees and proposed to me on the deck and It still feels like a dream.

What are your most looking forward to MR. and Mrs.?

It’s nothing else but a lifetime journey together with a lot of love, patience, and understanding.

THE WEDDING DAY

Most Memorable moment from your wedding

It’s the first look! I still remember how the tears of joy welled up in his eyes when he saw me.  He also  gave me a  bone-crushing hug while whispering these words  to my ears ‘ so, we came this far !’It was the happiest day of my life I would say.

If you could describe your wedding day using one word, what would it be?

“Ecstatic” I would say.

• What‘s been the Most fun Detail of Your Wedding to Plan?

Practicing the ‘surprise dance’ was such a pre-wedding drama with all the crazy fights and teasing of my bridesmaids and groomsmen. The best part of it was, teaching dancing steps to the boys who never wanted to burn up the dance floor.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Our honeymoon destination was  Marabedda Garden Resort, which was located more than 100 miles away from Kandy.  That was the perfect kind of place I always dreamed of  – away from the hustles and bustles, Instagram- worthy view with mystic mountain ranges.

What is your idea of “ And they lived happily ever after “?

It’s wrong to expect everlasting happiness in life and it is a choice that we make. It’s like choosing one reason to be happy over the thousand worries. So, as Mr.and Mrs. we look forward to going through all ups and downs in life together with positivity and strength by celebrating little things around us.

Who is good at forgetting and better at forgiving?

I think we both have these qualities in equal proportions otherwise we wouldn’t have come this far.

What has surprised you the most during the first few weeks/ months of being married?

The most exciting thing about it is, every single day I got to see a new version of him which I had never seen before. Since we had been friends for a long time, everything about us is so effortless and we are being comfortably ourselves.
